Terning
Danish for die. It settles the small questions — who starts, who washes up, which restaurant — and then gets out of the way.
Four randomisers live in one screen, each drawn and animated inside the app rather than borrowed from the system. A flip spins, a roll tumbles, and the answer lands with a flourish instead of simply appearing. A short haptic marks each result, and a running history keeps the recent ones in case somebody disputes the outcome.
- Coin. Heads or tails, with a spin you can actually watch.
- Dice. One or several at a time, the ordinary six-sided or the other common shapes, with the total added up for you.
- Number. Set a low bound and a high one, tap, and take what comes.
- Picker. Paste a list, spin, get one name — and optionally take that name out before drawing again.
com.kastspil.terningHow long a streak has to be before it means anything
Five heads in a row feels wrong. The arithmetic says it is the single most ordinary thing that happens in an evening of flipping.
The length of the longest streak in a run of fair draws has an exact distribution — no simulation needed. Count the sequences with no streak of a given length using a short recurrence over "same as the last one", and everything else follows. Here it is, for a coin or for dice of the usual shapes.
Where the longest streak lands
Not here: nothing is thrown. This page contains no coin, no die, no generator and no result — not one random number is produced anywhere on it. It only works out how an honest sequence is shaped. Producing the sequence is Terning's job.
What "fair" means in this app
Every draw is independent. The app keeps no memory of what it gave you a moment ago, and it never leans on the next result to make a sequence look more convincingly random.
That last part is worth stating because the opposite is a real and common trick: nudging a result so that streaks are shorter than chance would give, because short streaks feel fairer to people. Terning does not do it. The consequence is exactly the arithmetic above — long streaks turn up, regularly, and they mean nothing. Results are drawn from the platform's random number generator, and nothing about you, your previous draws or your settings is allowed to tilt them.
This is a software company, not an insurer
The domain this page sits on carries an Italian word for insurance, which is a leftover of the address rather than a description of what is here. Total System ApS writes and publishes mobile applications. We do not sell insurance, policies, cover, financial products or advice of any kind, and nothing on this page or inside Terning should be read as an offer of them.
